I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!

We went over to Godma/ Scuba's house just before Christmas to pass them all their presents and Hershey spent some time playing with the other doggies (Jack and Joey, Scuba, Tommy and CC).

3 Amigos posing in front of the tree with all the presents

Hershey and Scuba
(Sucba looks sleepy and Hershey looks demonic!!)

Mom and CC...
Mom had to 'rescue' CC from Hershey because CC is a very demure pooch and Hershey's rough housing is a bit too over the top for the poor girl (I totally understand how CC must've felt!). CC is a Christmas-day pup so she celebrated her barkday on Christmas day.. Isn't it cool?!

Some of the presents that we received this year...

We also received 2 parcels in the mail from Aki and Chow Chow!! **happy dance** Mom forgot to charge the battery of the camera, so it 'died' on us before we could take pictures of what Aki & Poopie sent us... They even sent a beautiful necklace for mommy! THANK YOU very much Aki & Poopie!!

We played a game on Chow Chow's blog called 'Paw It Forward', whereby you send something to the first 3 pups who leave a comment on that post. I was the 3rd one to comment so Chow Chow sent me these cute and yummy Christmas tree shaped treats! I shall continue on with the 'Paw It Forward' game once all the festivities are over (cos mom has been busy with 'things').

We will be away from the 2nd until the 7th cos mom is tagging along with dad when he goes for a business trip to Malaysia. If we don't get the chance to visit you, have a Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a brand new year ahead and hopefully 2009 will be a better year for all!! Before we go, here's our New Year Resolution - 2009:

Huskee:

  1. Be less picky about food
  2. Earn my first million (in terms of treats, squeaky toys, ear & tummy rubs, etc)
  3. Buy a house for me and Baby to live in
  4. And my secret resolution (shhhh...) is to send Hershey off to somewhere... maybe Siberia.

Hershey:

  1. Get my first boyfriend ** blush **
  2. Go to the park more often (like 20 times a day... though I'll settle for 15 times)
  3. Make more friends at the park
  4. Cause less destruction (mom made me put this down.. **pouts**)

Cuddles and kisses,

Huskee (& Hershey)

This is one of the 3 versions of Christmas card that we did for this year and it has Moosie's picture on it. We are sad that she didn't get to spend Christmas with us. Hopefully, she's met up with Lucas, T-man, FuFu, GirlGirl, Oscar, LacyLulu, Herbie, and all our other DWB friends who have gone over to the Rainbow Bridge, for I am sure they will take good care of her and show her where she can get the best sunflower seeds.

Wishing all our friends a Wonderful Christmas... we came across this poem that aptly describes how we are feeling this Christmas. To all our furry friends and your families, this is for you.

My Friends, My Angels

I believe in angels

Those helpers who are near

They know exactly when they're needed most,

And then they seem to disappear.

I know them when I see them

Whatever their disguise

They are patient and encouraging

Resourceful, kind, and wise.

Yes, I believe in angels

The kind that heaven sends

And I'm surrounded every day

By angels I call friends.

God gave me someone special

When He gave me a special friend like you.

Our hamster sister, Moosie, passed away last night. It took us all by surprise because she is not really old (a hamster's life expectancy is around 2 years and Moosie is around 1.5 years old). Moreover, she hasn't shown any symptoms (i.e. losing fur, loss of appetite, weight loss, etc) at all... so we are really puzzled.

I leave you with some of our favourite photos of Moosie.
RIP, little one... you will be missed. Thank you for leaving yoyr tiny pawprints in our lives.

I bet all your moms have been spending a lot of their time wrapping all the Christmas presents... These are the presents that mom managed to finish wrapping over the last couple of days (there are still LOTS waiting to be wrapped!!). I sure hope she can complete them in time.. heehee... I tried to help by supervising and giving 'artistic directions'... i.e. which wrapper to use, what color ribbons to go with the wrappers, how the ribbons should be placed, etc. Hershey on the other hand, was not of any help at all. She kept stealing and running away with the presents, ribbons and tapes!! (Mom: I want to throttle her!! I am sure none of you faced such a problem, right?)

Mom finally bought the silver Christmas ornament which she saw at the Harrod's shop after one month of hesitation. She'd definitely have bought it on the spot if we have Lucas with us today since it'd be his very first Christmas, but since he is in Heaven, mom did not buy it because of 'various reasons'. Now this is where the DWB magic comes in... after the advice she got from Mona and her mommy, mom made up her mind to buy it regardless of what anyone may say. She's not looked back and is really glad she managed to buy it before they are all sold out.

I have suggested to mom that we can make it our family tradition to buy one Christmas ornament every year for Lucas, it's a simple way of letting him know that he is being missed dearly by everyone.

Ooopsy-daisy... I am in trouble again. This time, I was caught red-handed (pawed??) while I was happily chewing on mom's hairband at 3am. Mom is a pretty light sleeper and she woke up one morning to the sounds of my teefies gnawing on something. It is her one and only hairband, so she wasn't amused at all. I got a big scolding and got sent back to 'jail' for the rest of the night.

I was hoping that she'd forget about the episode the next morning. Unfortunately for me, she didn't cos she remembered what happened when she was looking for her hairband. This is what she did to me... (actually I think I look quite fetching with the hairband, don't you think?) ** Insert gagging sound from Huskee **.

At least now I know what to buy for mom for Christmas...

Lucky thing for me, although mom was real mad, she still made some chicken and pork pies for us (all the chicken is for me 'cos Huskee is allergic to chicken). They were topped with loads of cheese and smelled delicious. Mom actually baked extras for her colleagues' doggies, but we wolfed it down so fast she decided to give them all to us and make a new batch next weekend for her colleagues' doggies.

Huskee: Mom reckons she can write a book based on all of Hershey's 'Crime Scenes'... we are now at Crime Scene #8.... and counting.

I've got a story to share.. it's really amazing how the world is so big, and yet so small... Before we got Hershey, mom actually had her eye on a Chow Chow pup she saw. She has always had a soft spot for the breed.. she thinks their purple tongue is absolutely adorable.. And their faces look so serious yet behind the tough exterior is a sweet desposition and is very loyal to his famiy. She claims that she felt 'connected' to this pup and simply had to bring him home, but she decided to be more rational rather than let her heart rule (that's a really rare occurrence!). She decided to wait a bit as she is very aware that it's a lifetime commitment. She went to the shop 3x over 2 days to ogle at him before telling dad that she thinks he is 'it'. However, when she went back the 4th time (this time with dad), that pup had already been sold.

Recently when we were at Maggie & Mitch's blog, we came across a comment left by a pup called Chow Chow. We decided to check his blog out and once we got to Chow Chow's blog, mom thought that he looked familiar. Without thinking too much into it, we left a message on his blog and went off to read his earlier blog entries. His earlier entry described how he was how he was bought by a man who realised after only a month that he can't take care of a puppy and wanted to give him away (WTF??!). Fortunately as fate would have it, Chow Chow's parents were looking for a Chow Chow puppy and promptly brought him home with them.

Mom then read from the entry that Chow Chow came from the same place where she saw the puppy that she almost got, and after putting the pieces together, she realised that this is the same pup!! No wonder he looked familiar! Apparently Chow Chow's first owner bought him on 31 July.. which was the same day when mom and dad went to the shop with the intention of bringing him home. When they realised he'd been sold, they were disappointed and the people at the shop kept trying to convince them to get another pup. Mom refused because she feels that she must have a 'connection' with the pup and she didn't feel it with the rest although they were all adorable. (Mom said she felt 'connected' to me since the first time she held me in her arms and she's never looked back).

So in a nutshell, fate does do funny things sometimes... I mean what are the odds of this happening? Mom's glad that Chow Chow's living in a loving family with parents who dote on him... and it's even better that his mom started a blog for him so we can continue to keep in touch! Our moms have also been exchanging emails and discussing possible 'play dates' too.. I am sure my 'not-so-little' little sister will love playing with Chow Chow.

Here's a picture of handsome Chow Chow... (we stole it from his blog...).

Thanks to Opy's parents for creating Dogs With Blogs, and also to Maggie & Mitch, for putting us in touch with Chow Chow and his family!

P/S: Mom's not sure what happened to the 'connection' thingy with Hershey... She still has the urge to 'strangle' her or hang her by her tail sometimes. (LOL!). I think there must be a 'power failure' or 'short circuit' when they decided to bring her home...

Have you ever thought you can be rewarded for doing a notti deed? Well, you definitelty can and this can only happen in DWB land!! Joey had awarded the much coveted and prestigious 'Stain Award' to Hershey.

Since this is such an honour, I will allow Hershey to say a few words. This is the first time I have allowed her the use of the blog, and she is a little bit over-excited, so please bear with her.

**Clearing throat**... Ahem... Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3..

Greetings everyone!! It's me, it's me, it's me.... it's Hershey!! OMdoG, OMdoG... I can't believe Huskee allowed me to blog today.. I am most excited and happy that I got my very own 'Stain Award' from Joey. Huskee's got his own 'Stain Award' previously for peeing on the big bed (I wasn't even born then, so he can't put the blame on me!!) and I have always wanted one based on my own merits. Whew, w
hat an honour this is...

This was what I did to win the award:

In Joey's own words, 'the placement on the pristine white couch is truly incredible'... I am so glad Joey's got the artistic flair to appreciate my efforts on the placement of those... ermm... poo. If you noticed, I have placed them in sort of a triangular shape.. I wanted it to be a Christmas tree (since mom is too stingy to buy one this year), unfortunately I ran out of 'ammunition' (read: poo) before I could complete my work of art.

I still don't quite understand why mom screeched so loudly (my ear drums hurt for 2 whole days) and punished me for being talented. I am glad my DWB friends appreciate my masterpiece.

I am truly humbled and I promise I will work even harder towards another Stain Award.

THANK YOU, Joey!! **puppy kisses**

Dad took this picture and he liked it cos he thought it looked 'artistic'... I just think it looks blurry and looking at it makes me dizzy!! (Hmm... I think my nose looks kinda cute, don't you think??)

The photo was taken before I had my grooming.. with all my sofy, fluffy fur gone, I look nekkid now. But I must say that I do like my shorter cut because it' means that I do not need to spend so much time being combed! Mom says that without all the fur, I look so small and vulnerable that she suddenly felt a burst of maternal instincts to 'protect' me. Protect me from who, I wonder? Could it be Hershey?

Friday, December 5, 2008

If you haven't checked out the hilarious interview that AKI conducted with Hershey, go and check it out now. It's so funny!! But I must add I was not amused when I found out that Hershey swopped my name for her name on Santa's 'Nice' list... I bet she was originally on Santa's 'Naughty' list for all the destruction she's caused.

As you know, mom's feeling a bit blue lately (I wonder why 'blue'.. I thought her favourite colors are pink or black??), hence AKI put this interview together to try and get to the root of Hershey's destructive problem. I'm not sure AKI managed to find out the root cause of the problem, but the post sure cheered mom up and made her laugh. She said it's one of the sweetest thing anyone/ pup's done! Thank You, AKI and Poopie!!

This morning, Hershey did something naught again, but it was quite funny too.. heehee. While mom was preparing herself for work, she usually likes to put on warpaint on her face (Mom: Not warpaint Huskee.. It's cosmetics!!) before she puts any clothes on (she claims it's cooler). Hershey loves to people-watch and this morning, she decided she wanted to look at the 'view' outside. We are on the 2nd floor and every morning, there is a big group of retirees who exercise on the lawn which the master bedroom faces. While admiring the view, Hershey managed to draw one side of the curtain apart... meaning the chubby, naked woman was exposed for all to see!! Mom ran like a madwoman into the bathroom while dad scrambled to draw the curtains together!! Not sure if anyone saw anything, but I get a feeling that mom has learnt her lesson.

Have a happy weekend everyone!!

If Hershey is not in deep sh*t, I really don't know who is. Right, this is reporter Huskee, reporting 'live' from uhhh... home. Yes, you have read it right, very shortly after her last major destruction, the black and white one has done it AGAIN. This time, she's chewed the leather off the legs of not 1, but 2 of the dining room chairs!

Exhibit one: Normal looking chair leg

Exhibit 2: Chair leg after it's 'meeting' with Hershey's teefies (we have 2 chairs in this condition now)

Exhibit 3: The Culprit aka Owner of Evil Teefies aka Miss She-is-so-in-Trouble

May I clarify that I had no part to play in all her evil deeds. She is taller than me now and weighs more than me (and may I add that her teefies are sharper than mine), so what can I do right? I did tell her to stop... I really did!! **innocent look**

As you'd be able to imagine, a lot of profanities that flew out of mom's mouth when she saw the damage (I was suitably impressed by her vocabulary). And dad? He just shook his head at the evil do'er and told her that she's on her own. Now it's back to the cage for Hershey while mom and dad go out to work. She had her freedom but she chose not to take it. Oh and I get a nagging suspicion that she is getting a muzzle as her Christmas present (if she is even getting anything at all).

Mom took this photo when she was on the plane during her flight from Singapore to Manila. (From the pic, I guess you can tell which cabin she is in right? It's definitely not in the front! Heehee..) Well, she hardly bothers to look at the 'scenery' outside when she is in the plane, but this time, it got her attention because it was a pretty nice and clear day outside and she was feeling somewhat melancholic.

The pretty blue skies and fluffy white clouds made her wonder if this is how 'Heaven' looks like. If it is indeed how Heaven looks like, is Lucas safe and happy there? Is he playing among the clouds? Is he lonely there??

Mom's been feeling a bit down cos it's getting closer to her 'supposed' due date for Lucas. It was to be around the 2nd to 3rd week of December but I guess we'd never know for sure now. Her colleague had given birth to a baby boy last week and mom couldn't bring herself to visit her or even look at the baby photos.

- Instead of buying baby clothes, baby socks & mittens, booties, nappies, etc, we are buying puppy toys, puppy treats, puppy teething rings...
- Instead of filling up the intended 'baby room' with a baby bed, changing table, toys, etc, that room now is filled with laundry waiting to be ironed...
- Instead of 'baby-proofing' the house, we are 'puppy-proofing' it...
- Instead of cradling a baby in her arms this Christmas, mom will have a squirming puppy (and me)...

I am training to be a croupier because by around 2009, there'll be a C.A.S.I.N.O in Singapore. (The government says it's NOT a casino, it is called an Integrated Resort... Well, whatever... I think it's just a gloried name for 'casino'. It's a place where people gather legally with the main intention to gamble, so what else can you call that??)

It'll be the very first one (followed by another one which will open shortly after). There's been talks that the construction is being delayed due to the current market conditions, but well, I don't think there's any harm if I start my training early.

Place your bets....

Hmmm.. I wonder how long my squeaky dice can last befor 'sploding...

Our happiness was short-lived... it lasted something like 3 days before Hershey's evil teefies strike again!! Yes, you read it correctly.. the evil teefies strike AGAIN. Here's the scoop... dad was becoming confident that 'his princess' **insert gagging sound here** is behaving herself and is proving to be very good girl **insert more gagging sound**. So he managed to convince mom to let Hershey loose in the house when they went to work in the day. (Mom's convinced that he voodoo'ed her into agreeing to it).

Dad then set up some fancy webcam so that he and mom can watch Hershey online when they are in the office. On Monday, all was fine. She behaved herself and they were so proud of her. Then, here comes the interesting part on Tue.

As you can see from the 2 photos above, there is this white 'twig-like' decorative pieces that we hang in the house. Yesterday when mom was doing a spot-check on Hershey, she saw 'somepup' happily dashing around the house (this was all captured by the camera) with a BIG piece of the 'twig' in her mouth... and when Hershey got bored with running around, she started to CHEW on it. See the evidence below.

(Mom: I was watching the destruction 'live' and I felt so helpless and frustrated 'cos I cannot do anything about it!!)

Since there is nothing that mom can do to stop the destruction, mom promptly called dad and asked him one question, which was: 'So, do you want me to kill you or kill her?'.

Oops...

Hello pals!! I am back!! I am not sure if anyone missed me at all, but one thing is for sure, I certainly missed all of you! Oh and please pardon my dishevelled look... I think I am due for my grooming soon but because mom's been so busy lately, it's been postponed for a while. I am not really looking forward to it, but with my long fur, some people seem to think I am a girl!! **Grrrrrrrrr...**

Mom and BY aka The Maid clipped my nails on Saturday and in the process, I got 2 big slices of ham (they used the ham to distract me when mom was busy clipping away). They thought that I didn't know, but hey, what do they know. I knew their ploy of course but I just chose to play along as I was enjoying my baked ham.

Mom is still very busy with work... she's somehow developed a nasty rash ALL OVER her face last week when she was in Manila. It is itching like crazy and now, her used-to-be fairly smooth complexion looks more like sandpaper now!! It's totally freaking her out (and us too 'cos she screeches everytime she looks into the mirror).

One piece of good news to share... Hershey did not destroy anything during the 2 weeks that mom was away. (That is unless dad kept it a secret from mom AGAIN... Hahahaha...) Truthfully, the black and white one is settling down somewhat. She doesn't try to herd us anymore (maybe she's given up??) and she's been keeping her evil teefies to herself mostly. She's also stopped nipping at people's heels (I heard that it's a border collie trait and they do it to herd the sheep... wait a minute, you mean she thinks we are all sheep in her eyes?!!). She will also obey the basic commands most of the time. Mom's even taught her some tricks!

May peace and tranquility settle upon this household once again!

When I woke up this morning, I was told that last night, sweet Girl Girl had left us to join Angel Fu Fu at the Rainbow Bridge.

Farewell, Girl Girl... We will miss you.

*** P.S: Mom's been really busy with meetings (I think she means eating and shopping cos that's what Hong Kong is famous for), so we haven't been visiting your blogs. Bear with us... we will come by shortly. Meanwhile, please know that Hershey and I are missing all of you! ***

Friday, November 7, 2008

Mom's been coming home late recently and she said it's because she has got loads of work to complete before her meetings the next 2 weeks. She will be going away for 2 back-to back business trips over the next 2 weeks, hence she may not have time to help me blog. **sigh** However, we will try to visit as many of our friend's blogs whenever we can so that we know what you are up to! (I hope you won't forget us after 2 weeks...)

Dad will be joining mom on one of her trips, so while they are away, Dad's parents will be staying over to take care of Hershey (while I will be with my mom's parents). Mom is so apprehensive/ worried/ bothered/ concerned about leaving the little trouble-maker at home that she's lost sleep thinking about it the past 2 nights. Haahaa... I wonder what part of the house/ furniture will be destroyed while they are away. LOL!!!
More impawtantly, Baby's mom, aka my Mom-in-law, will be celebrating her birthday this weekend. I'd like to wish my gorgeous, charming and kind MIL a Happy Birthday in advance... I hope your birthday is the pawfect start to a whole new year of happy days!! ** muacks**

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

The evil teefies strike again!! This time, the 'victim' is dad's Paul Frank t-shirt. Some of you might be wondering how on earth did Hershey chew the holes in the t-shirt while dad was still wearing it, right? Well, Hershey was pretending to be a sweet little girl and cuddling contentedly in dad's arms when he was watching TV. Little did my (very blur) dad know that while he was cradling her in his arms, she was busy nibbling on the sleeve of his t-shirt! So after 5 min of so-called 'cuddling', this is the end result.

Monday, November 3, 2008

BY, also known as 'The Maid' for all the things she did/ do/ will be doing for me, aka Mom's younger sister, aka the one who is totally devoted to me went shopping the other day and came across this artist drawing caricatures of people. So she thought it'd be fun if he might be able to do a caricature of me. So she tried and viola! He then proceeded to draw from photo of me that BY keeps in her purse.

Mom has always wanted to have a painting of me, and now that she and papa had moved into the new place, the walls do seem kind of bare. The good news is cutie-pie Asta whispered to me during the Halloween Pawty that she heard that my mom and her mom had been exchanging emails recently... I hope this is what I think it is!! I am sure most of you have seen Asta's mom's work and know how good they are!! The not so good news is that since we now have another 'someone' (shooting dager stares at Hershey) in the house, the painting will be of the 2 of us instead of just me. Oh well, I think I'll have to live with that.

Hershey & I took part in a contest organised by the 3 Musketeers. We are supposed to guess the number of oranges there are below. We guessed 29 ('cos that our papa's age) and lo and behold... we actually guessed it correctly!

The 3 Musketeers, i.e. Lady, Zena & little Cody sent us a big and heavy package that's filled with goodies of all kinds!! It's supposed to be our prize for guessing correctly as well as an early Christmas pressie! Isn't it so totally exciting that we have already received our very first Christmas present this year? (And it's definitely Hershey's first Christmas pressie too since this will be her first Christmas..)

I wasn't at home at the time the postman came with the package (I was over at my grandparents' place), so I graciously allowed Hershey to open it. You know how puppies are... they get so excited over everything... (ok and I have to confess that I don't want to have the camera flashing in front of my face for 10min just so that mom can take some pics... Now I have the best of both worlds with this arrangement., meaning that I get to enjoy the goodies that my fabulous friends have sent me and I do not have to endure the photography session!!

Here's my pesky little sister trying out different poses/ looks for mom... I think she's getting pretty good at it.

She's sniffing at all the goodies... The beautiful pink collar is Hershey's (the 3 Musketeers have got great taste cos Hershey is actually using the harness and lead in the same color and design!!). I got a matching red collar (red is my fav. color cos mom says that it stands out well against my fur)... And on top of that, we have got heaps of treats and toys. Hershey begged me to let her have the blue Giggler ball. I was glad to let her have it so that she can give her teeth a thorough workout without damaging the house/ furniture any further... The red bone shaped squeaky toy is MINE because well, it squeaks. In the house, we have an unspoken rule that anything that squeaks (other than Moosie), belongs to me.

Hershey and I love the presents... a ginormous THANK YOU to Lady, Zena and little Cody!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Mom's been pretty moody lately and had been having weird mood swings. Just in case anyone's wondering, she's not 'over it' yet and she can get teary just watching an advertisement on TV (yeah... I know it's lame)... She was never like this before and she used to scoff at her best friend who always cries whenever she watched/ read anything touching. Now, simple little things can bring on mom’s tears... sometimes when she is in the shopping centre, she feels a pang of envy when she sees parents pushing their baby in a stroller, or when she sees a cute jumper/ bib/ cap for little boys but she can't buy it ‘cos there's no one to buy it for.

To make things worse, the Singapore government is trying to encourage young couples to have more babies 'cos we have an aging population problem here, so now there are heaps of television programs during primetime that are all about babies.. i.e. Infant care, a drama serial that revolves around a guy taking care of his niece (something like the movie '3 men and a baby'), competitions on who has the cutest baby boy/ baby girl, the list goes on... (Yeah.. just rub more salt on the wound, would you??)

We are not sure if it's due to the new medication that she was prescribed with or if it's because her 'supposedly' due date (around 9 Dec), if she hadn't had the miscarriage, is drawing nearer. She has watched the belly of her colleague get bigger (her colleague's baby boy is due about 2 weeks before Lucas) and mom finds it really hard to listen to the colleague talking to other people about her baby's nursery, the baby shower, etc without feeling that lump in her throat.

Mom is considering if she should take leave on the first 2 weeks in December and probably retreat to some deep, dark hole so that she can wallow in self-pity and hide from rest of the world. (Gee.. I better start digging that hole for her soon if we need to complete it by Dec)...

Oh, and I miss my baby brother too...

Thank you for all your support, friends.... I persevered on with my HUNGER STRIKE but meanie mom was adamant about not bringing me to Baby's house on Sunday. Oh well, no point making my tummy suffer, so I made the wise choice to end the hunger strike with some nice braised porky thing that grandmama was making for dinner. It was lip-smacking yummy-licious... so it kinda made up for it.

When Baby found out that I wasn't going over, she became moody and hid behind the coffee table. I hope she was thinking about me. I spent the evening playing with the toy that Baby gave me for Valentine's Day this year... I hope she know that I was thinking about her the whole time.

2 sad lovers separated by an evil mom

Boy was a good host that night and spent a lot of time on the sofa mingling with the guests..

And here's Rudolf & Goofy!! (they are both waiting for food patiently next to the dining table waiting!!)

After the dinner, the women were in the kitchen washing up, chatting and gossiping. Guess what was my papa doing.... He was drawing with the cutie pie, Nadya! The 2 of them were pretty engrossed in their drawing, which looks kinda 'abstract'. Mom said Nadya is so cute and kept wanting to add a 'worm' to everything they drew. Like 'Can I add a worm to the apple?', 'Can I add a worm to the orange?', 'Can I add a worm to the strawberry?', 'Can I add a worm to the elephant?', 'Can I add a worm to the ant?'... Heeheee.. isn't she adorable?
