I've got a story to share.. it's really amazing how the world is so big, and yet so small... Before we got Hershey, mom actually had her eye on a Chow Chow pup she saw. She has always had a soft spot for the breed.. she thinks their purple tongue is absolutely adorable.. And their faces look so serious yet behind the tough exterior is a sweet desposition and is very loyal to his famiy. She claims that she felt 'connected' to this pup and simply had to bring him home, but she decided to be more rational rather than let her heart rule (that's a really rare occurrence!). She decided to wait a bit as she is very aware that it's a lifetime commitment. She went to the shop 3x over 2 days to ogle at him before telling dad that she thinks he is 'it'. However, when she went back the 4th time (this time with dad), that pup had already been sold.

Recently when we were at Maggie & Mitch's blog, we came across a comment left by a pup called Chow Chow. We decided to check his blog out and once we got to Chow Chow's blog, mom thought that he looked familiar. Without thinking too much into it, we left a message on his blog and went off to read his earlier blog entries. His earlier entry described how he was how he was bought by a man who realised after only a month that he can't take care of a puppy and wanted to give him away (WTF??!). Fortunately as fate would have it, Chow Chow's parents were looking for a Chow Chow puppy and promptly brought him home with them.

Mom then read from the entry that Chow Chow came from the same place where she saw the puppy that she almost got, and after putting the pieces together, she realised that this is the same pup!! No wonder he looked familiar! Apparently Chow Chow's first owner bought him on 31 July.. which was the same day when mom and dad went to the shop with the intention of bringing him home. When they realised he'd been sold, they were disappointed and the people at the shop kept trying to convince them to get another pup. Mom refused because she feels that she must have a 'connection' with the pup and she didn't feel it with the rest although they were all adorable. (Mom said she felt 'connected' to me since the first time she held me in her arms and she's never looked back).

So in a nutshell, fate does do funny things sometimes... I mean what are the odds of this happening? Mom's glad that Chow Chow's living in a loving family with parents who dote on him... and it's even better that his mom started a blog for him so we can continue to keep in touch! Our moms have also been exchanging emails and discussing possible 'play dates' too.. I am sure my 'not-so-little' little sister will love playing with Chow Chow.

Here's a picture of handsome Chow Chow... (we stole it from his blog...).

Thanks to Opy's parents for creating Dogs With Blogs, and also to Maggie & Mitch, for putting us in touch with Chow Chow and his family!

P/S: Mom's not sure what happened to the 'connection' thingy with Hershey... She still has the urge to 'strangle' her or hang her by her tail sometimes. (LOL!). I think there must be a 'power failure' or 'short circuit' when they decided to bring her home...

Woofy fate.
That's what it is.
Your Mom was fated not to get chowchow yet still connect to her after all these years . . .

How can she, when she is fated to connect only to H&H . . .Hershey should not worry about this connection thing. I short-circuit Keeper long before she knows what got into her!

Hellow Huskee,

we've also been friends with chow chow quite recently. We have been meaning to visit his blog for quite sometime since we have 2 chowchow siblings of our own in Bacolod City. But when we checked his bloggie, we were amazed at how similar he looks with our brother Guan Long that we even made a post about it.

We are so glad how fate turned up for the both of you. It is indeed a blessing to have a group like DWB, which not only bridges the gap between dog lovers from different locales but provides rare opportunities such as that of yours with Chow chow.

We hope you would get to decide on that playdate soon. Were excited to read about your meeting..

As for Hershey, I don't think it was fate that made your mum get her. Methinks it more of Voodoo.. BOL..

drooly kisses,

Aki

Huskee Boy!

Is the world so small, or is it that your mama's heart is just SO BIG that it touches that many pups and peeps? Personally, I think it's the latter.

How cool that you all met up again with Chow Chow! Sounds like his mama and your mama think alike.

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley

That is such a cool thing that your Mom got in touch with Chow Chow's parents! Like your Mom, my Mom also feels that there should be a 'connection' between her and a potential pet before she gets one (she told me she felt that when she saw me!). Let us know whenever you have a playdate with Chow Chow! He looks SOOO sweet in that photo!
