Hershey almost gave us all (especially mom) a big scare on one morning a couple of weeks back. Mom fed her breakfast like on any other day and she ate her food with gusto because mom added in some of Hershey's favourite boiled carrots. After that Hershey started behaving oddly, sticking very close to mom and kept up looking up at her. Mom thought that it was rather strange and she knew something was amiss when Hershey rejected her favourite chicken jerky treats. She merely gave them a few sniffs and continued to mope.

In less than 10 minutes after finishing her breakfast, Hershey threw it all back up. She was so weak that she just laid down listlessly next to her vomit. Mom checked her gums and saw that they were deathly pale. That's when she knew something was seriously wrong with her. She even had to carry her into the bathroom with her as she took a quick shower before taking her to the vet because Hershey simply refused to budge from her spot.

When they arrived at the vet, Hershey's color seem to have returned and she was somewhat back to her usual prissy self. For the first time ever, mom didn't tell her off when Hershey growled at another dog (a cute, large English Bulldog was trying to sniff her). The vet checked Hershey's gums and while they were still slightly pale, it was a big improvement from earlier. We spent some anxious moments waiting for the blood test results to be out and fortunately her blood test turned out fine, though we still have no inkling what caused the earlier episode. Since it is the first time this has happened, we were told to monitor her for the next fortnight and to bring her in immediately if it recurs. If it happens again, they'll do an ECG to ensure that her heart function is normal.

After she returned home, she was still a wee bit lethargic, but by that evening, the Miss 'She-Devil on Four Paws' that we know (and fear) was back.

The pics taken in the afternoon when she was still 'off'

Thankfully whatever that plagued her hasn't returned and she's been her usual annoying, hyper, gluttony self though mom is still keeping a close eye on her.

Thank goodness you're ok Hershey!! Mom and I recall reading about your not-feeling-so-good episode on FB. Hopefully it was just a one time incident and won't happen again!~

Luv,

Gosh, that reading that got me very worried too, Hershey! Let me tell you this, there have been a couple of moments when I had some "mysterious illness" too. This only started recently. I would just stand in the corridor with my head held low, tail tucked with my body in a slight crouching position & I would just stand there for a long time, not wanting to move. I would look very sick like as if I am having very bad tummy ache. Melissa would feel my tummy to check if I am very bloated but my tummy's normal.

My hoomies have rushed me to the Vet once when I had this mysterious illness. Full blood test was done on me but everything came back normal. All my organs were fine. The weird thing is, almost immediately upon reaching home, I was back to my normal self. The other times I had this "mysterious illness", I would be back to normal self within 2-3 hours or the following day & the weirdest thing is, this has only occurred late at night. Never in the day. Till today, my hoomans CANNOT figure out what this "mysterious illness" is & why does it happen every once in a while. I myself don't know what it is! I just feel SO down when I have it. Sigh.

I have really scared my hoomies many, many times. I can be a bit of a drama queen sometimes. HEE HEE

Glad to know Hershey's back to herself!

Hershey and Mom that was a very very scary episode. We are so thankful Mom was able to get you to the VET asap....Hopefully it was just a one time event. I know it is hard but you might need to eat slower...MOL that is a hard thing to do when you are hungry. Mom has a friend who is owned by a Corgi. He eats too fast so they put his kibble on a place mat in 4 small piles about 3 inches apart. It has helped him a lot.

That must have been so scary for your Mom, Hershey. Maybe you just ate all that food too fast. Or maybe you had a big drink of water before you ate and had a big burp come up. We are so glad you are better and hope it never happens again.

Sometimes doggies just get a touch of something. But we recover quickly and forget all about it. I am glad Hershey is feeling better.

Must have been quite a scare for mom.

Dear Huskee and Hershey mom,
Mango actually got expelled from daycare, and rightly so. He would get grouchy after a few hours and when dogs that he played with earlier tried to play with him again he would bitey them in a not nice way. Sigh. Just make sure you find a good daycare where the humans pay attention.

Hershey,
By the time I visit you today, I bet you've been back to what your mom calls your " usual annoying, hyper, gluttony self ", hehe, you got the daylight out of your mom that morning.
And I bet you don't need a lipstick today to pink that pale gums when you were sick, ooops sorry, bad joke!

Hershey Girl!

It is STINKIN' WEIRD to see you lying about like that - ball of energy that you are. We in GooberStan are breathing a sigh of relief that you're back to your old self, but do watch out, girlie! We want you around for a LONG time.

On another note, please tell Huskee that the photos of him in your post just prior to this are freakishly cute! My girl practically crawled through the puter to snuggle on him.

Be sure to accept our juicy healing goob smooches, and pass some on to Huskee, and the juiciest is for your sweet mama! We've missed you!

Goober love,
Stanley & Stella

Hi dearest friends,

Mommy is just now getting back to posting again and we have missed you guys so much. Poor Hershey. I hope your OK and haven't had anymore sickies. Weenie had his tumors removed and he didn't have any cancer. Mommy couldn't have been able to handle him being sick.

My angel sister, Samantha, had espisodes like that would scare Mommy to death & then the next day would be fine. Hope it'll never happen again.

WE love you and your Mommy so much.

{{{huggies}}}...Mona, Weenie & Mommy too!!
