Mom's eyes are leaky because she just read that Destiny's gone to the Rainbow Bridge. I can't believe we have lost another friend in such a short span of time... we were only trying to come to terms with the loss of Zoe, and of course my llittle hammie sister, Moosie.

Our heart goes out to Destiny and Zoe's families. Mom is very affected everytime one of our friends goes to the Rainbow Bridge, and part of this is because I am a 'senior dog', and mom is really scared and is dreading when the day comes for me to join my friends. She hopes that she will have enough courage to make the best decision for me.

Ever since Hershey came into our lives, it has become even more obvious to mom that I am really not the young pup that she first brought home 9 years ago. I am not as playful, not as energetic, becoming grumpier and my used to be jet-black fur is now mostly grey, with specks of white... and it breaks her heart. Sometomes she even feels guilty for bringing Hershey into our lives because in a way, Hershey takes away some of her time that was originally meant for me.

Whew... this is one depressing post and we are sorry if we made any of you sad. On a brighter note, I'd like to share one piece of good news with you. Hershey finally pooped after 3.5 days!!

Oh sad to hear about that.
There are times when I think about that too and even though my furball is only 3+, we all have to cherish the moments with them. I feel sadness in my heart just thinking about it and so I try not. I wish you great health and happiness!

My mum knows just how your mum feels. Her first dog (my half sister Tiny) turns 12 this year, yikes!

Glad Hershey finally pooped though, that must be a relief.

It is a sad time at the moment.

Tell your mum not to worry, hopefully Huskee has many happy years ahead yet. He is still young. Getting Hershey is a good thing, we dogs love having doggie company at home. :-)

Mummy just found out that her ex-colleague's dog has just passed away too. My mummy tends to imagine the day that I have to leave her whenever she read about any dogs going to the rainbow bridge, and she would cry and hug me tight.

Well, I say it's more important to treasure every single moment we have with each other now.

I'm so glad Hershey has pooped! So that means she is ok now right? It's great that the humans can stop obsessing about poos and pees now.

I think I will be at the Dog Run this Saturday. Maybe we can meet to celebrate the return of Hershey's poo!

It is always rough and makes you think when we lose another friend. You are still a young guy at 9 dude, I will be 10 in 2 months!!

Yes, it was a bad week for losses. Our Mom is the same way because Dakota is 11 and has advanced Cushings disease, and Phantom is already 10. Tough to get old.

Great scoop woo shared on the poop front.

IT alwasy makes us sad when a doggie goes to the Rainbow Bridge. Our friend Audrey is 15 and we worry about her all the time, so we know why your Mom worries!

But I bet you will stick around forever just to keep Hershey under control.

oh huskee.. please don't say that.. youre making us cry too. we just hate the fact that dogs get to live shorter lives. if only we can live as long as the humans do that would be bliss. our birthday wish for you buddy (although, its far too early, i know) is that you may get to live 20 more years! yay! and 20 more after that...

we are so glad that hershey finally pooped. we hope that the wretched LBM goes to an end.

drooly kisses,

Aki

Hi, Huskee!
The same happens to my mom everytime we know about a friend going to the bridge.
I think having Hershey at home is a good thing. She keeps you company even if you don't want to play so much.
Give your mom kisses and hugs from us.
Take care

We just heard about Destiny and this makes us more sad. Our Misty has CRF, and we know how hard it can be. And then PooPoo died last week. It has been a really sad week.

Huskee,
We must all grow older, but remember the best is yet to come. We have much training to do to help the young ones understand the way of pupdom. When it is our time to cross the bridge we will know that we loved and were loved. What more could we want from our life?

We're sad too. LS knows how your mom feels. Probably because I'm a senior dog too. She said she'll just have to take one day at a time and enjoy all the time she has with me. Hope your mom would too.

Glad to hear Hershey has pooped! What a relief!

Huskee Boy!

Tell your mama that since she loves you, she'll know how to make whatever decisions she may need to make for you throughout your life. But, we know how she feels whenever she hears that another pup has gone to the Bridge. We're missing Moosie & Girl Girl, and others we know who have gone ahead of us!

Congratulations to Hershey on pooing! That is one major accomplishment. Hope she feels fine (or gets back to normal) soon.

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley

Hi Huskee and Hershey... Thank you for paying tribute to my girl Destiny...

Let your mom know that yes, its hard having a senior dog... and yes, we start to notice things like when you dont hear the can opener, or when we can walk in the house and you dont wake from a nap. We notice when its harder for you to climb stairs, get comfortable, or run and play. But feel blessed to have each and every precious moment.

Destiny had a "step brother" Derby ... my boyfriends obnoxious twit of a dalmation. I often fretted that his energy would prove too much for her... but I was always proven wrong. Destiny would perk up and play - biting at Derby's ears and ankles, and she became a pup again when she was with him. He was a wonderful energy source that breathed life and vitality into my girl.

I can totally understand the angst of bodily wastes... I was consumed with what went in and came out of Destiny's body for months... but I wouldnt trade a moment.

So, tonight, in gratitude of being a Dog-Mom, I thought I would share a poem from a book called "Cooking with Dogs" by Karen Dowell

Motherhood
All my friends have children now. Their biological clocks ticked them into a foreign world filled with bassinets and learning toys.
A few feel sorry for me, the last remaining nullipara. But those who know me best, and know my girl, know we share similar motherhood joys. Regardless of our breed of babe, we're both obsessed with the quality and quantity of our tyke's bodily wastes. And we delight in little miracles, innocent presents retrieved from beach and woods, random kisses, implicit trust, unquestioning adoration.
We teach, we spoil, we chide, we coax, we praise, we love our babies.
How can you feel sorry for a mom whose child will never fall in with the wrong crowd, do drugs, or drop out of school? Dog moms are doubly blessed. Our boys and girls grow old, but never grow up.

Our girl understands how your mom feels. She cries every time she reads about our friends going to the bridge because she remembers having to let my friend Tequila go to the bridge 4 years ago. She got Comet to keep my company after Tequila died. Even though I'm getting older (I'm 10) and grumpier, I still enjoy having a playmate.

We know you have lots of years left in you. Hopefully your mom thinks more about the great times she is having with both of you (and forgets about Hershey's teefie damage and sploding butt) and less about you eventually going to the bridge.

Huskee,

It is very sad when we lose friends. I'm very sad about losing my friend Poo Poo the cat (JB's sister). Tell your mom that you've got alotta life left in you, you just need to take it a little slower now. I'm glad Hershey's butt problem, um, worked it's way out.
