Visit to the Vet (arrrgghhhhhhhhh.........) & an Embarassing Incident

The mailman came last week with a letter attentioned to 'Huskee'.... Boy was I exicited at the thought that one of my friends had sent me a letter!! ... alas.. my happiness was shortlived. That was actually a reminder from the vet that I am due to go for my annual check-up and vaccinations! (*Drats*.. did I tell anyone that I really hate the mailman??)

They made an appointment to bring me in this week and no amount of sad looks, pleading and pouting could get me out of it.

Puhhh-leeese Mommy, can I NOT go??

Fortunately the visit to the vet wasn't as bad as I'd imagined it to be but something REAL embarassing happened. I normally do my poo poo business 2x a day, once in the morning and once at night. However on that morning we were rushing off to the vet so I kinda 'forgot' to do my business... Once we were inside the consultation room, they put me on the table and all of a sudden, I had the sudden urge and decided to do my business there... Yes, ON the table in front of the pretty lady vet (talk about bad timing).. The hoomans were so amused and kept laughing while they were looking at me (hey, give the guy some privacy man!). I was TOTALLY, TOTALLY embarassed (but hey, a guy's got to do what a guy's got to do right?!)... *sheesh*

Anyway, since I am considered a 'matured' dog, the vet assured us that my heart is strong (of cos it is strong.. how else could I manage so much lovin'??) and everything else seems fine. The hooman asked the vet abt my paw-chewing problem since this time round, it seemed to be more 'intense'. The nice lady vet advised them to remove all meat from my diet if possible and get me on a fish only diet to see if it'd help. ** Yayyyy!! Ok, lady vet, I am sorry for poo-ing on your table.. **

So for the past few days, I have been having Salmon and/ or Dory fish with carrots and tomatoes (I really hope that the 'Dory' that I am eating isn't the same as Nemo's good friend, Dory.. I wouldn't want to eat up Nemo's friend, or her family members for that matter, you know..)..

Other than that nice piece of advice, the vet also sent me back with some other vitamins to protect/ build up my immunity.. I don't like taking them, but well, I suppose it's for my own good..

Hi everyone... Huskee truly embarassed us, to say the least. We couldn't get out of the clinic fast enough. And when we were outside waiting for the medicine, we heard the nice pretty vet spray air freshener to cover any offending smell left behind by Huskee. Probably the jab did it for Huskee and made him want to go NOW!

Hi Fei, great to hear from you~ How's ur pimples? We got a big bottle of shampoo from the vet, which helps Huskee's dry n flaky skin. We also got a bottle of vitamins that will help boost Huskee's immunity too. The packets of pills are anti-histamine to clear his itch, antibiotics to stop any infections, and some liver tonic/protectant for him. We will have to go back in a month's time for review as well as for his deworming tablet which the vet delayed giving since he'll be taking antibiotics etc.
Thanks for your concern, everyone & everydog!~

HI There Huskee Boy - how embarassing but one quick bashful look from you & i'm sure all was forgiven. Let me know how you go with the paws coz my Billy-Bob who is ShihTzu chews his paws a lot too so the are always stained & a bit tender

How's the fish diet?

Luckie the Dachie said...

Oh Huskee, that was quite an experience huh? But I'm glad your visit went well. Fish diet is food...more expensive than meat too. kekeke....Mom fed me Salmon once and she said my mouth stank so no more salmon.
My mom took Home Econs for her O levels.
Which vet do you visit? Oh yeah, you may want to try Aloveen shampoo and conditioner, it's very good for skin problems.:)

Poor Huskee,
Don't feel bad about pooing, last year Snickers had really really bad bloody diahrrea and at the vet she had to do it 4 times in the room. They all felt so sorry for her. What kind of vitamins, etc. do they have you taking? Have you tried a kibble with lamb in it? Lots of dogs are becoming allergic to corn, soy & wheat in the foods, not actually the meats. You could also be allergic to a preservative in the foods. Keep us posted on what you try & what helps to stop your itching.
Luv & Wirey Hugs!

PS Snickers is mad I told about her incident, hehehehe!

I never pooped on the vet table but, don't worry, apparently it is very common.

I am sure pretty lady vet melted when she saw your eyes and said "That's ok"

Joe Stains said...

wow you pooped on teh table?! that is the best story I have heard in a long time!

Sophie Brador said...

Huskee, at least you're not the only one. Sophie did that same thing when the vet out her on the xray table before her surgery. The only other time she ever went inside was as a puppy in Canadian Tire ... that's kind of like a Home Depot crossed with a Walmart, but without the clothing.
