Our mom is SO mad now (it's the angry kind of mad, not the crazy type) because of what she's just read in today's newspapers. There was a photo of a dead Pomeranian lying in a pool of blood after it was reportedly flung onto the ground by a man. (You can read more about it here.) What kind of atrocity is this?? What sicken and upsetted mom more was that apparently there were a number of witnesses who saw the murder happening, but chose to do condone the act and nothing to stop perpetrator.

Perhaps they think that 'it's just a dog'; Perhaps they didn't want to be seen as nosey parkers; Perhaps they didn't want to get in trouble for interferring; Perhaps they just cannot be bothered cos it is not their dog... Perhaps if someone had done something, the poor dog may still be alive.

What could the dog have done to upset the man so much that he had to hurt (and kill) it?

How can those people who witnessed the crime and chose not to do anything go to sleep at night?

Our mom told us that Singapore has always prided herself as a 'developed country'. Sadly, this incident (plus the other recent reports on animal cruelty) proves that Singapore and Singaporeans have a long way more to go before we can truly call ourselves 'developed'.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress
can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

Oh Huskee and Hershey we're crying with you.
As soon as we click on the link, the poor dead bloody body of the angel Pomeranian opened the flood of tears on our faces and lumps in our throats!
The poor dog had the leash on, he or she might thought of a pleasant walkie and having treats on the way, not knowing the walkie ended by his horrible death. And his body with the head turned the other way from his paws, a painful broken neck?
Please God, I believe that you caught and held your poor pup right on the first fling onto the ground to keep him from feeling the terrible torture.
Oh humans, please be kind to us, we're helpless creatures.
Huskee and Hershey, not only Singapore, but many many other places on earth still treat animals with cruelty.
I hope your mom would have a restful sleep tonight. I know that she would go to bed with sadness that may keeps her staying awake.
Love y'all.

How absolutely awful! Mom wasn't sure she wanted to see any pics. We are glad now that she didn't go to the link. We can only take consolation in the fact that no stupid human will ever hurt that little one again.

Huskee and Hershey, this is just awful!
We truly have no words.
We are so upset and completely empathise with your mom.
We cannot understand why any human would treat an animal in this way.
Your mom is right, there are others who stand by and do nothing.
There is absolutely nothing the poor dog could have done to warrant such treatment.
Take care

Oh no, Mommy is crying so hard now and holding me tight. I just doesn't make sence to Mommy why these things happen. Mommy would have tried to stop it, she just doesn't under how people can stand by and witness something like that.

Sandra said when she found Shelby there were a bunch of people just walking right over Shelby. Nobody would help her pick Shelby up to put her in the car either.

I agree with Mango, I hope God snatched that pup up and flew him to the bridge where is now free and without pain.

WE love you guys so much.

Mona & Mommy too!!

Oh, that is unbelievable. In front of witnesses and not a soul intervened. There is nothing that dog could have done to elicit such rage and violence.

I don't think I can look at the link. But can you (or us for that matter) protest to anywhere? Did this make the news? Can we get the guy that did this in trouble somehow?

Dawn said...

Well. I looked at the link, and didn't sleep last night. What is going to happen to the man?

That's really horrible! Humans can be so cruel. It's sadder still to read that there were few people around and yet they didn't do anything to stop that man. Surely a few of them could've easily overpowered this insane man.

This is so awful. We are left speechless.

That's so horrible. We'll never understand how so-called "civilized" people could do such a thing. Well, that man will "get his" in the end before the eyes of God. He will not go unpunished.
