Operation Day

Grandpapa underwent an operation today to 'repair' the damaes from his fall. Not really sure what was done but I heard something about metal plates and screws.. ewww... sure sounds painful to me. The entire weekend was boring as the family spent lots of time at the hospital accompanying Grandpapa.. just wish they could bring me with them. Although I am not a certified therapy dog, I am sure Grandpapa would love to see me. Scuba told me (through tele-paw-ty) he heard from his mum who visited Grandpapa on Sat that he told her he missed me!! Ma is planning to find some way to smuggle me in.. the only problem is they are worried I might bark out of sheer excitement when I see Grandpapa!!
Also, I overheard pa and ma talking about getting a new car.. YIPEE!! I have been so jealous of Sunshade's SunshadeMobile, so I hope pa and ma will convert the new car into a 'HuskeeMobile'!! I've overheard him talking to Uncle Steven and Uncle Caster (aka Rafv's daddy) trying to collect feedback on different brands... Ma prefers a Japanese car as they are more affordable (her hidden motive is if they get a cheaper car, she can still have money for shopping. I know she's been eyeing a Coach bag) but pa wants a continental car... so now it's "Battle of the Sexes" at home. Check this space for the results!

Uh-oh...

There was some drama at home today... and I DO NOT LIKE IT one single bit!!
Grandpapa went out early this morning and he tripped and fell.. apparently it was pretty serious and he had to be hospitalised. Grandpapa injured something called 'femur' (wherever that is) and it broke in 3 places, so the doctor said he'd need to be operated on sometime next week as they are running some tests.. Actually this is the 2nd time Grandpapa fell and needed an operation. The first time was in March last year and he stayed in the hospital for so long.. I really missed him during that time. I hope this time he'd be able to come home quickly but mama said it'd probably be another week or two before he can come home... *sob*
There's been too much dramas in my life lately.. i.e. the detestable grooming session (yes I look hideous now but I survivied it), my friend Coco's 'Jaws' close brush with death and now Grandpapa's fall.
Hmmm.. everyone at home had been looking so gloomy today, maybe I shall make some 'sacrifice' and share a pic of myself with my new 'fur-do' to cheer everyone up... if you are my friend, you better not laugh!! I can't wait for my fur to grow out... but well, I think I am considered lucky cos I only need to go to the groomers once every 3-4months.. my poor friend Toby has to go every 5 weeks!!(The lobster in the picture was from papa to make up for the 'stress and trauma' that I went through..) The other good thing that came out of this (other than the treats and toys that mama bought) is that I look super skinny now, so hopefully ma will give me more food.. *hiak hiak*..

Arrghhh... Time for my Grooming Session

I overheard The Maid making an appointment with the groomer this Saturday!! Oh no... I hate grooming sessions (for vanity reasons) and I think I look better with my long coat.. (personally I think I look dreadful and I feel very 'naked' after my grooming sessions)...

Here are the pics that Ma took after my previous grooming session - Proof of what I mean:

Ma's reason for sending me off to the groomer is because she is concerned that my coat being fairly long now would make me uncomfortable in our hot and humid climate. For anyone who is interested, Singapore's temperature averages around 30°C/ 87°F all year round (Yes, spring, summer, autumn and winter is the SAME)... I kind of miss the four distinct seasons in Melbourne. Autumn is me and Ma's favourite season. After her lectures or on days that she need not go to uni., Ma used to take me out to Carlton park to play or we'd go for long walks to the post office when it's nice and cool. We'd see possums and squirrels, falling/ fallen autum leaves, swans in the big pond.. Ok I am digressing. Was feeling somewhat nostalgic for my birth place and where I grew up cos I had many happy memories there...
Back to the topic, Ma also conveniently forgot to mention the other reason for wanting to send me for grooming, i.e. they'd not have to spend so much time combing out the tangles and bathing me would be a breeze for the next 3 months!! Lazy bums...
Well, the only positive thing out of this is normally Ma will buy me lots of treats and new toys to 'make up' for it.. so at then end of the day I end up with bags of goodies!!
It'd take at least 2-3 months for the fur to grow out and for me to look 'normal' again... Hmmm, maybe I will not post any more photos of myself for the time being until life is back to normal...lest I get laughed at...

Presents for Me... (and it's not even my Birthday!!)

A big THANK YOU to Jay's mum (Auntie J) and Fu Fu's mum (Auntie Eil)!! Either I have been a good boy or I must have done something really nice 'cos I received presents over the weekend!!
The Maid also received a present from them... it was a very handsome looking stuffed toy. The 2 aunties got it for her because they think it looks like moi! Other than my fur being slightly darker, I think it really looks like me.. and I have decided to call him Buddee (as in 'buddy' but I wanted it to be somewhat similar to my name, hence it ends with 'ee' rather 'y').
I also went over to visit Godma and Scubs. on Sunday... more importantly, the person whom I wanted to see most was Auntie Sam.. (Sorry Godma, Sorry Scubs!!)..
Here I am with 'my' Auntie Sam..

'Flower Boy'??

I have not had the chance to use the computer 'cos ma had been hogging it.. I finally got a chance to update my blog today.

I have got a picture here to share with my friends to show what I have to put up with at home... Well, Mum made some wristbands for her bridesmaids and she decided that they'd look good on me too.. *grimace*.. Will someone please remind her that I AM A BOY! Flowers are for girls!! (When she was trying to take this picture, I refused to look at the camera so as to show my 'disapproval'.. Obviously, she didn't get it....)
Oh yes, and let me introduce the 2 new 'friends' that I got to know after pa and ma's wedding ceremony.. introducing (drum-roll please..)... Mr Barry Bear and Mrs Berry Bear. So far they have been 'protected' from me... Sooner or later I promise you, when they are not careful, I will lay my paws on them and shower them with my 'love' (i.e. get the stuffings out of them)... *hiak hiak hiak*...

I Adore Auntie Sam..

To think that I was initially worried about going over to stay at Scuba's place... after 2 nights I was reluctant to go home because I have fallen in love with Auntie Sam. We literally had a '2 nights stand'.. (I got to sleep with her on both nights.. *bliss*..) Now I can't wait to go to Scuba's house..
Today is the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, something that the Chinese call Mid Autumn Festival. There'll be a full moon tonight and the round shape symbolizes family reunion. Therefore it is a day for family members to get together and enjoy the full moon - an auspicious token of abundance, harmony and luck. Round "moon cakes", made of fruit, ice cream, yogurt, pork, mushrooms, green tea, flowers, jelly etc., are a traditional food eaten during the festival. They also enjoy pomelos on this day; the Chinese word for pomelo, sounds the same as another Chinese word to beseech the moon god for protection. I love this fruit (although it does not seem to digest properly..)
Happy Mid Autumn Festival!!

1 More Day!!

Only one more day!! Tomorrow is the BIG day that everyone in the family has been waiting for.. and activities in the house have reached a new high. Since this morning, I have successfully tripped grandmama once and mama twice. I also slept on the dress that grandmama ironed (I think The Maid planned to wear it for the dinner tomorrow) and managed to crease it.. *hiak hiak*.. . Well I can't help it, I have just got to be where all the action is!!
In a couple of hours I will be going over to my godma and god-brother, Scuba's place. Ma told me that I'll need to be there for 2 nights and I have to obey Auntie S and not bully her. I have never been away from my family for so long, so I am a little nervous. Mama made some patties for me to bring along to share with Scuba and any of his friends who happen to be around. My fav. toys are also packed and ready to go!!

Getting Excited!!

Pa and Ma's big day is just 4 days away and the activities in the house have reached a new levels.. (I can't wait cos according to Fee, I will be 'legit' in just a couple of days..)...

The family will be going to Malaysia for the dinner on Fri night (cos my Pa is from Malaysia) and I will have to stay over at my god-brother's place with Auntie Sam since god-ma will also be in Malaysia for the dinner. I am excited cos I'll be meeting my god-brother Scuba.. !! Anyway, the dinner in Singapore is on 01 Oct at Four Seasons and I hope they'll bring me along (I heard that this hotel allows you to bring in your pet) *crosses paws*. * Note to Papa and Mama: I promise to behave myself and not bark at the little kids...

Anyway, over the weekend, my friend Jay celebrated his 15th birthday too. The Maid brough back a goodie bag for me with LOTS of lovely things. Mama loved the party hat.. I think she wanted to keep it for herself but the size didn't fit her.. whew.. I hope Jay and his guests enjoyed themselves at the party of Sat and that they enjoyed the cake!!

Here I am licking my lips after eating the yummy things from Jay's goodie bag..
.. and here with my present from Jay.. (yeah.. it's his birthday and I have a present.. haa..)

Ahhhh.... Tagged again!!

My oh my... I have been tagged again.. (Luckily this time round I don't have to list some embarrassing things about myself..).

Ok, the rule this time is to list 5 things that make a true doggie friend..

1) Must be willing to share the blame (for messing up the place, 'killing' a toy, farting, etc)
2) Must be willing to share toys/ treats...
3) Must be there to protect me from being bullied (my little 'Bullie' brother, Scuba, will be able to do this job very well!!)
4) Always getting mama to make enough meat patties to go around for my friends..
5) Must be generous with licks and kisses

I tag Scuba, Rafv, Joey, Herbie and T-Man.. All the best guys!
12 Days to go..

In less than 2 weeks, Papa and Mama will be tying the knot after more than 8 years together (ok ok, so what if I was 'born' out of wedlock??!). Anyway, the house has been a hive of activities lately. Many visitors coming and going and everyone is preparing for the big day. Grandmama and The Maid have been busy sprucing up the house... cleaning the fans, lights, etc. We even have new plants & new curtains!!
Amidst all the activities, I overheard them saying that something big is happening this later this week too.. Typically a week or two before the big day, the groom's parents will bring the dowry over to the bride's place. (Hope that they'll bring some good foodfor me as well...)

Anyway, with all these activities happening, I'd better stay out of everybody's way. I found the best place to watch all the activities and yet not get into the way of the broom and mop!! I managed to find a spot on the chair in the dining room.. this way, I can 'supervise' all the chores and not get my paws dirty!!

Ooooi... are you sure the

floor is clean enough??!!

13 Days to go...

Everyone is so busy buying new clothes, shoes, bags (personally I think it is just their excuse to get into a shopping frenzy). Auntie KH, Auntie Esther & Auntie Fiona have been coming by to 'model' their purchases.. Grandmama bought 2 new dresses and The Maid bought 3!! Even Grandpapa has got new clothes and tie..

Well, Grandmama is busy putting up things with 'Double Happiness' stickers all round the house.... In the Chinese culture, this Double Happiness symbol is a very important symbol as it represents a certain outlook and philosophy on life. It is used to represent the idea that man and woman are meant to go through life together and every person (and pooch??) has a soul mate in this world.

Mama bought this sticker and I like it a lot.. it shows a couple in traditional Chinese wedding costume.. and I like it cos I think it looks cute with the blushing groom kissing the bride!

With all the things happening around the household, it brings me back to one thing... I need a girlfriend!!

Female Maltese, oh Female Maltese, Wherefore art thou?

New Friend

After the sombre post yesterday, I am back to my usual, happy-go-lucky self... (well, not that I think I will be granted eternal life, but what I'll do is to treasure each day with my family!!)
Anyway, mama told me about a friend that I never knew about.... When she was still in Australia, she had a friend (Auntie A) who had a female Cocker Spaniel called Chestnut aka Nut Nut.. I never got to meet Nut Nut because Auntie A brought her back to Singapore by the time mama got me. Mama spoke with Auntie A last night and there are plans to let us meet up!! Here's the pic. of my new friend..

Me and My Mama

Ok, on a more serious note, I just read my 'little' brother, Scuba's blog and found out about the deaths of his 2 friends, Morris and Rocky. Mama was very sad and it bothered her a lot (especially since I am quite 'senior' at the ripe old age of 7).
Mama and I have this special 'alone time' where it is just the 2 of us (yes, not even papa is included)... and it's been established ever since I was a teeny, weeny pup. During this time, she'd always hold me close to her and whisper in my ear.. Through the years, the things that we have shared during the 'alone time' has evolved..
When I was little, she'd tell me to grow up strong and healthy, tell me how much joy (and headaches) I have brought into her life, etc. Now that I am older, she'd tell me how much she hopes for me to live a long and healthy life, and that she hopes I am a happy & contented doggy.
The one thing that has not changed through the 7 years is she always ends this 'alone time' by telling me how much she loves me and how special I am to her. She told me that I am 'extra special' 'cos I was given to her by papa during their courting days and I am her very first doggy.. so in her heart I will always have a special place.

Someone call SPCA please..

Further to my earlier post on the fridge, mama and The Maid said that they wanted to take a pic. of it before they dispose it off. And guess what.. I was not spared either..

Well, I can't 'suffer' alone so I brought my toy with me (it's my birthday present from Jack & Joey)

Anyway, we got a new fridge now and fortunately like what my friends told me, it is BIGGER & BETTER!! More imporatantly, my supply of meat patties, chicken gizzards and pork liver is back! Yipeeee....

Bye Bye Fridge...

Horror of all horrors.. the fridge broke down on Saturday!! Gosh.. I was so stressed.. you know what implications it'd have?? It means that mama will not be able to make any meat patties for me since they need to be refrigerated!! NO FOOD!!

Everyone was upset, shocked and depressed by the sudden 'demise' of the fridge after it's 'long service' with the family... (yah, it's not only me ok..)
1) Grandpapa was depressed cos all his Cornetto ice-cream melted
2a) The Maid was told by Grandmama to finish up the TWO cartons of fresh milk in the fridge since they wouldn't be able to last without refrigeration (she mamaged to finish only one-and-a-half carton by midday) - obviously after drinking so much milk, she felt very queasy.. *hiak*.. that's for not sharing with me!!
2b) No ice water!! - The Maid lives on ice water... especially when the weather is hot!
3) Grandmama was the most 'severely' affected.. she had to clean out the entire fridge, plus the remnants of the Cornettos. Then she had to go shopping for a new refrigerator.. this spoilt the plans that she'd made on Sat. (originally she was suppossed to go shopping fwith Auntie Esther for mama and papa's wedding items).

** Dear Fridge... Thank you for serving us 24/7 for so many years without any complaints and offdays. Please R.I.P.. (and we are already missing you) **

My 'Sisters'

I have a new hamster friend, Fu Fu. Fu Fu is a Syrian hamster and I think he looks so cute (being the loyal friend that I am, I think he looks cuter than Bibi). Other than Fu Fu and Bibi, there are a few other hamsters in my life (all belonging to The Maid):

1) the late Mei Mei - She was such a sweet-natured hamster and loves to be carried and stroked. Mei Mei was about two-and-a-half years old when she 'expired' and according to mama, that's quite a good life span for a hamster. I miss her a lot 'cos we used to play together (they'd put her into this ball thingy and she can roll herself around the house.. When she got 'trapped' in a corner and I'd bark to get the attention of The Maid to help to 'free' her..). R.I.P Mei Mei..

2) Twiddle-Dee - She does nothing but eat and sleep and eat and sleep and eat and sleep.. Mama has nick-named her 'Obesity' due to her ever widening mid-section (fyi, she was eating when this photo was taken)... Although The Maid bought her many 'exercise equipment', Twiddle-Dee hardly ever uses them.

3) Twiddle-Dum - This one is always in panic mode.. the reason why she was given a bigger cage (a 'duplex') was because she is always running around in circles, like she is looking for something she lost. She looks so silly doing it that mama nick-named her (ok, this is not very nice..) - 'Stupidity'. (It was difficult trying to get her to stay still at one spot for long enough so mama could take this photo..)

Monday Blues...

Like Garfield, I don't like Mondays... actually I don't like Tues., Wed., Thur. and Fri too.. cos papa and mama will be busy at a place called 'work'. Meanwhile.. I am bored....so bored.. counting my little paws... well at least weekends are good.. Here's what I did..

1) Went to the playground

2) Went to the pool (Nope, didn't swim cos Mama said I am not allowed to..)

I also saw a St. Bernard.. wow.. he is only a puppy but he is H.U.G.E.. even bigger than my friend Rafv (and I have always thought that Rafv is a giant - ok, I am short, so what..!!) And his mouth.. I don't even know where to start! I think my little bro' Scuba would have a good time playing 'dentist' to this dog..

Happy Birthday to Me...

Here I am with my presents!! I received a sqeaky toy from Jack & Joey, treats and another squeaky toy from Aunty Cindy and Bingo, a squeaky stuffed dog and a squeaky stuffed bear from my godmama and Scuba, and my Mama and Papa gave me a new mat (the one that I am sitting on) as well as a blue, squeaky, stuffed cat.. (Somehow everyone seem to know how much I adore squeaky toys..!!) Godmama baked me a cake too.. it's personalised with my name on it! (Of course it tasted yummy too... I shared it with Bingo and Bobby and I think they agree with me!)
Oh and mama said that I must do something meaningful on my birthday... I must count my blessings that I have a loving family who adores me (ok, ok and spoils me rotten), and must reflect and think about all the other doggies out there who are not so lucky like me and all my friends. Mama was reading the accounts of some poor doggies on the ASD (Action for Singapore Dogs) website http://www.asdsingapore.com/ and the stories brought her to tears. Hence, we have decided to make a donation in my name... It felt good being able to do something nice for a change..
*** My special thanks to Aunty Cindy and Bingo, Jack and Joey, Godmama and Scubs. for the presents!! THANK YOU ***

Encounter from the 'Other' Dimension?

We are in the midst of the lunar seventh month (or otherwise known as the 'Hungry Ghost Festival') and so far, I am lucky not to have encountered anything myself (unlike my poor friend Rafv.. check out his encounter at: http://rafvrough.blogspot.com/2006/08/i-have-been-tagged-by-joey-huskee.html).

Anyway, the other day The Maid and I had a strange encounter.. we were the only ones at home and she was in the study room while I was minding my own business (i.e sleeping). Suddenly the TV in the bedroom turned on by itself! There's really no reason for this to happen since no one was in that room then.. eeeekkss... Maybe 'it' was trying to catch up on the drama serials??!... *shiver*.... Well, I may look 'tough' in my commando shirt, but I am really not as brave as I look in that picture.. Here's a song that just came to my mind:
If there's something strange in your neighborhood
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
If there's something weird and it don't look good
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Ok, I think it's about time to take out the Yellow Pages and let my paws do the walking...

Counting Down (yet again)..

I think I am bored 'cos I am always counting down days.. this time I am counting down to grandmama's birthday this coming weekend and my own birthday next week. Mama told me that I should do something meaningful on my birthday, so she suggested that I should make a donation to ASD and/ or SPCA. Thought it's a pretty good idea..

And here's my wishlist if I have a fairy godmother out there (like Scuba):
I want her... ... Anyone out there answering my prayers??
